About the Artist

Ilga began her artistic career by taking every art class offered at her undergraduate university. Of course, this being The Johns Hopkins University, there were not all that many art classes being offered.

After graduating with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Ilga headed out to California to continue with her education at the University of California in Santa Barbara. There she managed to obtain an M.S. (also in ChemE) and develop a career in professional beach volleyball.

After moving to Santa Cruz and working for 14 years in the coal-fired power industry, Ilga decided to change careers (with a little help from GE who bought out the company and closed the offices). She is now designing and building web sites, working as a software programmer and making impressive glassware.
